The Obama administration reported on Tuesday that Russia is sending attack helicopters to Syria in order to assist Assad in shooting down more dissenters. 

Vladimir Putin has made it very clear he supports Bashar Assad's war and terrorism against the citizens of Syria.  Last October, Russia and China vetoed a UN resolution to sanction Syria and call for Assad to step down.
